Introducing wheelchair basketball

December 2023. Primary school, 40-50 children 5th to 8th grade

The primary goal of the event was to introduce the sport of wheelchair basketball to primary school students. The promotion event, led by Professor Miljan Hadzovic (University of Nis Faculty of sport and physical education), successfully captivated the attention of the young audience. With a focus on inclusivity and physical activity, the event featured an interactive session where students were introduced to the basics of wheelchair basketball and had a chance to participate in lice Q&A session. Professor Hadzovic provided a comprehensive introduction to wheelchair basketball, demonstrating fundamental skills and game rules. The session was designed to be both educational and entertaining. A dedicated Q&A session allowed students to ask questions about the sport, fostering a deeper understanding and interest.

Demonstration class of wheelchair basketball

January 2024., WBC Nais Gym, 34 primary-school children of 7th grade (9 of them) and University students (11 of them)

The primary goal was to engage young students and spark their interest in wheelchair basketball, encouraging inclusivity and active participation from an early age.

Event was held by representatives of the WBC Nais. The event began with a warm welcome from the organizers of WBC Nais, emphasizing the importance of inclusion and the benefits of wheelchair basketball. Primary-school children were given the opportunity to try wheelchair basketball, guided by the coaches and supported by the students from the Faculty of sport and physical education. This hands-on experience was guided by experienced coach and the demonstration team, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for all participants. The youngsters actively participated in mini-games and drills, experiencing the sport firsthand. A live demonstration of wheelchair basketball was conducted by experienced players. This interactive session allowed the students to witness the skills and techniques involved in the sport firsthand. The practical involvement helped demystify wheelchair basketball, making it more relatable and accessible.
