The Sports Club for Disabled Athletes Irodikos visited more than 20 schools as part of the Paralympic Days in Schools initiative. Through this program, young people aged 7 to 12 had the opportunity to learn about Paralympic sports and play these sports. Qualified trainers from Irodikos and athletes from the basketball team visited local schools to talk about the benefits of Paralympic sports. In this way, teachers and young children got to know wheelchair basketball and played other Paralympic sports as well. This approach helps achieve the swift and smooth inclusion of people with disabilities in the sports movement, while introducing young children to Paralympic sports and their benefits from an early age.
Additionally, after the completion of the
ERASMUS SPORT program, emphasis was placed on promoting wheelchair basketball
through an initiative by IRODIKOS to involve the public, volunteers, and
interns in specific training sessions. In this way, we managed to engage a
large number of people from the city, allowing them to experience basketball
and handle a wheelchair firsthand.
